What to do if my child has a confirmed case of Covid-19

In order to minimise the spread of Covid-19, we are required to track and trace all individuals that have come into contact with someone who has the virus. If your child has a confirmed case of Covid-19 please do the following:

  • Email school at bursar@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk or head@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk and let them know that your child has tested positive for Covid-19.
  • In your email please make clear:
    • Your child's name and Year Group and whether they have attended Breakfast and/or After School Club
    • When your child was tested for Covid-19
    • When the positive test notification was received
    • When your child first started showing symptoms and what these symptoms were.

We will then be able to use this information to work out which families and staff need to be contacted to isolate.

What Symptoms should I look out for in my child?

According to NHS England if your child shows signs of the following symptoms:

  • a high temperature of 37.8 or above – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

You need to use the 111 online service which you can access but clicking this link.

The information below is up to date information from the Lancashire Public Health team with regards to schools. Guidance does tend to change slightly and we will aim to update this page whenever anything significant changes. For any specific enquiries please email bursar@littlehoole.lancs.sch.uk

If your child falls ill in school and we have reason to believe they are showing any of the above symptoms they will leave their class and wait in a quarantine room in the school whilst someone calls you to collect them. A member of staff will wait outside the room and will be dressed in appropriate Protective Personal Equipment. This member of staff will be on hand to ensure your child remains safe.

We appreciate particularly at this time of year symptoms of allergies and other common illnesses and conditions could equally appear like symptoms of Covid-19. As we are not medically trained beyond paediatric first aid, we are not in a position to diagnose an allergy from Covid-19 and will therefore always opt to contact parents or carers to take their child home.
