French
French Subject Champion: Mrs. Hulme
There has been a long history of teaching French at Little Hoole, and through our links with our local High Schools we are pleased that it is a subject that children can continue when they leave our school. We have recently started using the Kapow Scheme of Work and as a result we are in transition moving to this new scheme. It is our intention that all classes will follow their specific year groups but this is being done gradually to ensure there is no loss of learning. The scheme is in line with the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages. Children get an excellent opportunity to learn words and phrases from many different contexts and combined with playing games and singing songs in French, children build up an excellent foundation which prepares them for further learning at High School.
French is taught from Yr 3 - Yr 6 and takes place during at least 3 half terms across the school year.
